Moi University students come out with new modes of dressing in the recent years. Students are seen in the University streets during the semester sessions dressed mostly indecently.
As it is clearly known fashion is a popular aesthetic expression in a certain time and context, especially in clothing, footwear, lifestyle, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body portions; in this university almost all those aspects apply.
Mostly the ladies are the ones who embrace fashion. They are seen with different colorful clothes, beautiful footwear from time to time. Others even take the fashion to another level which exceeds the African standards. Africa is a moral-based continent, but its people try to imitate what fashion is in other continents and bring it here. The same thing the girls in Moi do.
The students show case their fashion skills when going to classes whereby they are in their makeups and well dressed. Other times is during the weekends when they are taking walks ,for example visiting places like Kesses dam.
After a research of why the ladies are the dominant in fashion, it was found out that the gorgeous clothes, footwear and accessories are commodities sold at cheaper prices in a nearby market, by the name “Mabs”. Ladies go there on Satuardays and choose the clothes that go at a price of as low as thirty shillings. Men are disadvantages because their clothes are always expensive.
Fashion changes from time to time. This is influenced by the production new designs every day. Therefore, the fashion that will be trending during one semester is not the same that will be trending in the other.
